Would Your Jacksonville Business Get Recommended by ChatGPT? -LionShareable — June 2026

Would Your Jacksonville Business Get Recommended by ChatGPT?

For the better part of two decades, getting found online has meant one thing: ranking on Google. Build a good website, work on SEO, collect reviews, claim your Google Business Profile — and hope you show up when someone searches for what you do.

That's still true. But it's no longer the whole picture.

A growing number of people are skipping the search bar entirely and asking AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and Grok directly for a recommendation. Instead of comparing ten websites themselves, they're asking a question like "who's the best accountant in Jacksonville?" and taking whatever answer comes back.

The Two-Minute Test

Here's a quick way to see where you stand. Open whichever AI assistant you use most, and ask it something like:

"Who would you recommend for [your service] in Jacksonville, Florida?"

Then just look at what comes back. Does your business show up? Does a competitor show up instead? Are you surprised by the answer either way?

It's a small exercise, but it tends to be a genuinely eye-opening one — and it's worth doing before you read any further.

Why This Is Happening

AI assistants form an impression of your business the same way a person would if they spent an afternoon researching you: by pulling from your website, your reviews, your online listings, social activity, and anything else publicly available about you. The businesses that look active, consistent, and credible across all of those sources are the ones AI tends to surface. Businesses with outdated information, thin content, or few reviews tend to fade into the background — not because anyone is against them, but because there's simply less for the AI to go on.

In other words, the same fundamentals that help you rank on Google — accurate information, real reviews, useful content, a consistent presence across platforms — are now doing double duty. They're also what helps you show up when someone asks an AI for a recommendation instead.

Also in This Month's Issue

The full June LionShareable issue goes further into this AI-visibility shift, including a look at an emerging tool built specifically to track how businesses show up in AI-generated answers — basically an early version of "SEO for AI." There's also a genuinely useful explainer on Florida's Tangible Personal Property Tax that's worth a read if your business owns equipment, furniture, or fixtures — it's the kind of thing that's easy to overlook until an assessment notice shows up.
