what to bring to a coworking space

Coworking spaces have become increasingly popular since the Pandemic in 2019, offering a dynamic and collaborative environment for remote workers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. These shared workspaces provide a range of amenities and resources, fostering productivity, networking opportunities, and a sense of community among individuals from diverse backgrounds.

However, to make the most out of your time in a coworking environment, it's essential to come prepared with the right tools and essentials for a productive day. From portable devices to personal comfort items, each item plays a crucial role in enhancing your work experience and ensuring you stay focused and efficient throughout the day.

In this blog post, we'll explore the essential items you should bring to a coworking space for a successful and productive day. From technology gadgets to personal comforts, we'll discuss how each item contributes to creating an optimal work environment in a coworking setting. So, whether you're a seasoned coworker or new to the concept, read on to discover how to equip yourself for success in a coworking space.

  1. Laptop or Tablet: These things are kind obvious unless you plan on maybe reading a book, working on a drawing, or just making phone calls all day. A laptop or tablet allows you to work efficiently and stay connected to your tasks and colleagues throughout the day.

  2. Chargers: It's crucial to have chargers for your electronic devices to keep them powered throughout the day. Theres nothing worse than driving somewhere to go work for the day and being cut short because you forgot your laptop charger at home and your laptop battery cant hold a charge to save its life (this has happened to me).

  3. Notebook and Pens: There's still value in jotting down ideas, to-do lists, or taking notes during meetings with a good old-fashioned notebook and pens. I carry these things quite literally everywhere with me.

  4. Headphones: Noise-canceling headphones are essential for creating a focused work environment in a coworking space. They help block out distractions from nearby conversations or background noise, allowing you to concentrate better on your tasks.

  5. Water Bottle and Snacks: Staying hydrated and keeping your energy levels up are crucial for maintaining productivity throughout the day. A reusable water bottle allows you to refill throughout the day, while healthy snacks like nuts, fruit, or granola bars provide a quick and convenient source of energy to keep you going.

  6. Personal Comfort Items: Coworking spaces can vary in temperature and ambiance, so it's essential to bring personal comfort items like a sweater or hoodie to keep yourself comfortable. Additionally, hand sanitizer and tissues help maintain personal hygiene and ensure you stay comfortable throughout the day. Notice that I bolded the word essential. Dont forget a sweater. Even if you dont use it you can just leave it in the car.

  7. A Backpack: Another obvious one. With all these essential items, you'll need a convenient way to carry them around. Bring a backpack or bag with you to make things easy.

  8. External Mouse and Keyboard: Some people find it more comfortable to work with an external mouse and keyboard, especially during extended laptop use. They offer better ergonomics and can help prevent fatigue or discomfort associated with prolonged typing or mouse usage.

  9. Cables for Connectivity: Coworking spaces often provide amenities like monitors, TVs for presentations, or wired ethernet connections for faster and more stable internet access. Bringing your cables ensures you can take advantage of these resources when needed, the coworking space may or may not be able to provide these items for you.

  10. Personal Items: Lastly, don't forget to bring any personal items you might need throughout the day, such as medication, glasses, or a small mirror for quick touch-ups. Being prepared with these essentials ensures you can focus on your work without any unnecessary interruptions or discomfort.

Being well-prepared to work remotely is key to maximizing your productivity and enjoyment in a coworking space or really any time you might find yourself working remotely. So, next time you head to a coworking space, remember to pack these essentials and set yourself up for a successful and productive day of work.
